BJAK seeks a Lead Software Engineer to own technical direction and execution for major products and systems. This hands-on role involves designing scalable systems, writing code, and mentoring engineers while driving critical engineering work from idea to production.
What you'll do
- Own technical design and execution for major products and initiatives
- Design scalable backend, frontend, API, database and infrastructure systems
- Collaborate through coding, prototyping, reviews and debugging
- Drive architecture decisions balancing speed, scale and cost
- Translate ambiguous product problems into clear technical plans
- Improve engineering quality via testing, security and observability
- Lead critical initiatives and mentor engineers across teams
What you'll need
- 7+ years building and shipping production software systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend or distributed systems
- Strong system design skills for complex high-scale environments
- Strong coding ability with willingness to stay hands-on
- Track record of leading projects from design to production
- Ability to make sound technical trade-offs and solve problems
Nice to have
- Experience scaling teams or systems during significant growth
- Experience operating across multiple products or countries
