As BJAK scales its technology products across Southeast Asia, the company needs technical leaders to solve complex engineering challenges. The Lead Software Engineer owns the technical execution for major systems, balancing hands-on coding with high-level architecture decisions.
You will work in a distributed international environment, turning ambiguous product problems into clear technical solutions. The role requires raising the engineering bar through better system design, testing, and development practices while mentoring peers.
What you'll do
- Own technical design and execution for major products and engineering initiatives
- Design scalable backend, frontend, API, database, and infrastructure systems
- Drive architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, reliability, and cost
- Collaborate through coding, prototyping, code reviews, and debugging
- Translate ambiguous product problems into clear technical execution plans
- Mentor engineers and lead technically critical initiatives across teams
- Improve engineering quality via better design, testing, and observability
What you'll need
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience shipping production systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure
- Strong system design skills for complex or high-scale architectures
- Proven ability to remain hands-on with strong coding skills
- Track record of leading major engineering projects from design to production
- Ability to make sound technical trade-offs and solve complex production issues
- Strong English communication skills for global collaboration

- Experience scaling engineering teams or systems during significant growth
- Background operating across multiple products, markets, or countries
