As BJAK scales its technology products across Southeast Asia, the company needs technical leaders to solve complex engineering challenges. The Lead Software Engineer will own the technical execution for major systems, balancing speed, scalability, and reliability while remaining deeply involved in coding and architecture.
What you'll do
- Own technical design and execution for major products and engineering initiatives
- Design scalable backend, frontend, API, database, and infrastructure systems
- Collaborate through coding, prototyping, reviews, and production debugging
- Drive architecture decisions balancing speed, cost, and maintainability
- Translate ambiguous product problems into clear technical solutions
- Improve engineering quality via better testing, security, and observability
- Lead critical technical initiatives and mentor engineers across teams
What you'll need
- At least 7 years of experience building and shipping production systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure
- Strong system design skills for complex or high-scale environments
- Proven ability to remain hands-on with strong coding skills
- Track record of leading major engineering projects from design to production
- Ability to make sound technical trade-offs and solve complex production issues
- Strong English communication skills for global collaboration

- Experience scaling engineering teams or practices during significant growth
- Background operating across multiple products, markets, or countries
