As Manager of Business Enterprise Systems, you will guide the team responsible for Wealthsimple's core systems of record and their integrations. You will partner with leaders in Finance, Legal, Customer Operations, and other departments to translate business challenges into technical solutions.
This position requires a balance of strategic leadership and direct technical contribution. You will manage developers, set architectural standards, and write production code while ensuring reliable delivery of complex cross-functional initiatives.
What you'll do
- Cultivate trusted partnerships with non-technical leaders in Finance, HR, Legal, and Ops
- Translate business operational pain points into technical scope and system design
- Write and review production code while leading design for complex integrations
- Set technical standards through design reviews, code reviews, and architectural guidance
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of developers with clear feedback and growth plans
- Own end-to-end delivery including scope, sequencing, dependencies, and risk management
- Maintain release discipline, deployment cadence, and audit-ready change controls
- Provide regular visibility into team throughput, backlog health, and system risks
What you'll need
- At least 6 years of application development experience
- Minimum 2 years managing development teams and delivering custom builds
- Strong knowledge of Java, TypeScript, Ruby, or Python with recent hands-on use
- Experience planning professional growth, conducting reviews, and setting goals
- Track record of providing technical and process guidance during delivery
- Experience delivering projects like implementations, migrations, and upgrades
- Ownership of integrations and data flows across third-party software platforms
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform in AWS or GCP
- Ability to allocate resources and develop strategic roadmaps with stakeholders
- Experience applying AI tools to accelerate development and automate workflows
Nice to have
- Experience with APIs for Jira, Slack, Okta, Workato, or Google Workspace
- Background in high-growth tech environments or regulated fintech industries
