As an Engineering Manager at ClickUp, you will lead a product team focused on unifying tasks, docs, and chat through context-driven AI. This is an open placement role where you join a team based on your strengths and business needs, with a mandate to ship reliable product improvements.
You are expected to be technically active, reviewing code, debugging production issues, and prototyping solutions. Beyond technical leadership, you will manage hiring, mentorship, and performance while partnering with product and design to define priorities and deliver customer value.
What you'll do
- Lead hiring, onboarding, mentorship, and performance management for engineers
- Own delivery from planning to release, managing dependencies and risks
- Set priorities with product and design leaders, balancing features and debt
- Review PRs, debug production issues, and write code to unblock the team
- Drive architecture decisions and challenge assumptions in design discussions
- Implement AI tools and agentic workflows to improve planning and testing
- Establish monitoring, incident response, and safe rollout practices
- Collaborate across teams to resolve dependencies and ensure quality
What you'll need
- 6+ years software engineering experience with substantial senior-level work
- 2+ years managing an engineering team, including hiring and coaching
- Comfortable coding in TypeScript, Node.js, React, or similar stacks
- Track record of delivering customer-facing SaaS products and services
- Deep technical judgment for architecture and trade-off evaluations
- Experience partnering with product and design to define scope and milestones
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to reduce manual coordination
- Daily fluency with AI tools in your personal workflow
Nice to have
- Recent code contributions as a manager, such as features or tooling
- Experience managing engineers across frontend and backend disciplines
- Background in building software at scale with focus on reliability
- Experience introducing AI-native workflows with measurable improvements
- History of building collaboration or productivity software
- Experience leading distributed teams across multiple time zones
