As a Patent Classifier, you will determine appropriate classifications for patents using both U.S. and international systems. The position requires applying technical knowledge, particularly in computer science, to analyze complex subject matter and prepare written reports for the IP industry.
What you'll do
- Determine patent classifications using U.S. and international systems
- Assign USPC and CPC codes to complex technical subject matter
- Perform research and classification operations via automated systems
- Prepare written analysis and reports for patent attorneys
- Work efficiently in a production-based environment with high accuracy
- Participate in ongoing training to expand technical knowledge
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree or two years of relevant work experience
- General background in Computer Science or technical concepts
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent reading comprehension and written communication
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance
- Willingness to travel up to 25 percent of the time
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
