Counsel Health is building a vertical, AI-native medical group designed to personalize healthcare. The team integrates deep medical and technical expertise to create tools that enhance physician efficiency and patient care.
As a Physician AI Engineer, you will bridge clinical reasoning and technical implementation. You will own the end-to-end development of clinical agents, from scoping problems to shipping code and establishing evaluation frameworks.
What you'll do
- Own the lifecycle of clinical and safety agents from scoping to production
- Design and implement clinical evaluation frameworks for quality assurance
- Improve core AI components like triage and diagnosis against physician benchmarks
- Analyze existing systems to identify weaknesses in AI and safety protocols
- Prototype and ship early work by shadowing current clinical workflows
What you'll need
- MD, DO, or international equivalent with completed residency or 3+ years experience
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs in production environments
- Track record of owning and shipping products in industry or startups
- Ability to reason through clinical diagnoses and operationalize them in code
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving early-stage startup settings
Nice to have
- Board-eligible or board-certified with recent clinical practice
- Published research or open-source work in clinical AI or LLM evals
- Previous experience embedded within an engineering organization
- Background in health tech product development
