As a Platform Architect, you will serve as a technical leader for Instructure's developer portal and Platform as a Service products. You will define technical direction, write high-quality code, and mentor multiple engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions that support millions of users worldwide.
What you'll do
- Lead architectural design for PaaS features and platform components
- Write maintainable, well-tested code across various technologies
- Mentor engineering teams on best practices and system design
- Collaborate with managers and SREs to translate requirements
- Evaluate new tools to improve performance and processes
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to standards
- Resolve complex technical issues through root cause analysis
- Share technical expertise across the organization
What you'll need
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years in software development with 3+ in lead roles
- Expertise in scaling complex, distributed systems
- Proficiency in Ruby, Python, Java, JavaScript, or Go
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and containerization
- Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
- Ability to drive technical initiatives from conception to deployment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
