Join the team behind ClickHouse, a high-performance analytics database service. As a Principal Engineer, you will tackle ambiguous technical challenges to enhance latency, throughput, and memory efficiency on a petabyte-scale cloud platform. You will own performance end-to-end, from algorithm design to production rollout.
What you'll do
- Identify performance and scalability opportunities in customer workloads
- Architect optimized database algorithms and data structures
- Improve core relational operators, indexes, and query processing
- Drive the roadmap for latency, throughput, and hardware utilization
- Ensure safe production rollout through meticulous testing
- Represent the company via presentations and community contributions
- Mentor and support junior engineers on the team
What you'll need
- 5+ years in database performance engineering or distributed systems
- Master or PhD in databases or a related field
- Strong fluency in C++ and systems programming
- Track record of driving complex performance improvements
- Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
