Join Masabi’s Architecture team to shape the technical direction of the Justride payments domain. You will combine high-level system design with hands-on implementation to support millions of transit journeys worldwide.
This position requires deep expertise in payment systems and distributed architectures. You will guide engineering teams, define standards, and ensure the platform remains resilient and cost-effective while integrating with major transport partners.
What you'll do
- Define technical strategy and architecture standards for the payments platform
- Design scalable, secure, and cost-effective payment solutions
- Guide teams in adopting modern microservices architectures
- Conduct architecture reviews and provide hands-on technical support
- Solve complex challenges related to scalability and system resilience
- Advise engineering teams on technical decisions within the payments domain
- Manage integrations and technical alignment with external payment providers
- Contribute to roadmap planning and technical scoping for major initiatives
- Create technical documentation and promote engineering best practices
What you'll need
- Extensive experience with payment systems, PSPs, gateways, and EMV
- Deep understanding of payment flows and transaction lifecycles
- Proven track record designing distributed systems and microservices
- Experience operating at Principal or Staff engineering level
- Ability to balance immediate delivery with long-term architectural health
- Skill in translating ambiguous problems into clear technical approaches
- Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Experience managing scale, reliability, and performance trade-offs
- Interest in architectural implications of AI-enabled systems
Nice to have
- Background in transit or fare payment systems
- Familiarity with card schemes like Visa or Mastercard
- Experience with event-driven or multi-service architectures
- Knowledge of Kotlin or Java development
- Experience with DynamoDB or MySQL data storage
- Proficiency with Terraform and GitLab CI/CD
