Join a mission-driven fintech company building financial solutions for underserved groups, including people with disabilities and older adults. As a Principal Product Designer, you will operate with high autonomy within a lean team, leading customer insight initiatives and owning design quality across core business lines.

You will collaborate closely with product managers and engineering leads to translate user research into strategic design decisions. The role focuses on improving user experience through both incremental iterations and new feature development, ensuring design coherence across a complex product suite.

What you'll do

  • Lead end-to-end product design for the Card Platform, including mobile UX and new products.
  • Support design needs for the Trust & Invest business through micro-iterations and customer requests.
  • Drive customer insight by proactively running interviews, usability tests, and concept testing.
  • Advocate for the user perspective in cross-functional discussions and shape product requirements.
  • Represent design in client-facing settings and maintain coherence across multiple user types.
  • Produce polished design work using existing patterns for features, iterations, and sales support.

What you'll need

  • 8+ years of product design experience, preferably in lean team environments.
  • Proactive approach to research and insight generation rather than waiting for assignments.
  • Strong end-to-end design skills from discovery and concept to interaction design and QA.
  • Desire to remain an individual contributor close to the work while collaborating effectively.
  • Experience designing for complex products with multiple user types and differing contexts.
  • Ability to present design decisions and rationale to senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Judgment on when to dive deep versus move fast, grounded in best practices.

Nice to have

  • Experience in fintech, financial services, or regulated product environments.
  • Background designing for caregivers, older adults, or people with complex needs.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered product features and associated UX considerations.

How you'll work

  • Majority of the team works remotely from across the US.
  • Small offices located in San Francisco and Kingston, NY.
  • Virtual connections and periodic in-person team get-togethers.

What you get

  • Competitive wages and generous vacation policy.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Paid parental leave and 12 paid holidays per year.
  • Personal professional development budget.
