KIRA is expanding its mobile-first financial ecosystem in Southeast Asia, covering insurance, spending, and investing. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will own the technical execution of major products, designing reliable systems across backend, frontend, and infrastructure.
This position requires strong architectural skills and a commitment to hands-on coding. You will drive critical engineering initiatives, resolve complex production issues, and elevate development standards within a distributed global team.
What you'll do
- Own technical design and execution for major products and systems
- Design scalable backend, frontend, API, and database architectures
- Write code, prototype solutions, and conduct peer code reviews
- Drive architecture decisions balancing speed, cost, and reliability
- Translate ambiguous product needs into clear technical plans
- Improve system quality through testing, security, and observability
- Mentor engineers and lead technically critical initiatives
What you'll need
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, APIs, or cloud infrastructure
- Strong system design skills for high-scale applications
- Proven ability to remain hands-on with coding tasks
- Track record of leading projects from design to production
- Ability to make sound technical trade-offs and solve complex problems
- Strong English communication skills for global collaboration
