KIRA is expanding its mobile-first insurance and financial services platform across Southeast Asia. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will own the technical execution of major products, designing reliable systems while remaining deeply involved in coding and architecture decisions.
You will work in a distributed, international environment, turning ambiguous product challenges into clear technical solutions. The role requires strong leadership in system design, security, and development practices to support millions of users.
What you'll do
- Own technical design and execution for major engineering initiatives
- Design scalable backend, frontend, API, and infrastructure systems
- Write code, prototype features, and conduct peer code reviews
- Drive architecture decisions balancing speed, cost, and reliability
- Translate ambiguous product requirements into technical plans
- Mentor engineers and raise overall engineering quality standards
What you'll need
- At least 7 years of experience shipping production software systems
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infra
- Strong skills in system design and architecture for high-scale apps
- Proven ability to remain hands-on with coding and debugging
- Track record of leading major projects from design to production
- Strong English communication skills for global collaboration
