As the Principal Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be embedded in Asia to ensure component quality before parts reach contract manufacturers. You will lead technical audits, drive root cause analysis for production failures, and work directly with supplier engineers to implement effective corrective actions.

This position demands high autonomy and deep technical expertise in electromechanical hardware. You will act as the primary technical link between Halter’s supply base and internal teams, focusing on process control and capability building rather than simple compliance checking.

What you'll do

  • Lead rigorous technical audits of suppliers across Asia to assess process control and measurement capability.
  • Conduct pre-qualification and surveillance audits to verify supplier readiness and sustained quality performance.
  • Own resolution of complex quality issues using first-principles analysis to identify true root causes.
  • Coach supplier engineering teams to improve their own root cause analysis and corrective action capabilities.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance specifications, ensuring they are clear, measurable, and applied correctly.
  • Support part approval activities and validate new or revised components against specifications before release.
  • Build trusted relationships with supplier counterparts to facilitate rapid problem solving and capability development.

What you'll need

  • 15+ years of experience in supplier or manufacturing quality for complex electromechanical hardware.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, variation drivers, and process control methods.
  • Exceptional audit skills capable of uncovering real quality risks beyond surface-level compliance.
  • Strong first-principles thinking to trace quality failures back to actual root causes.
  • High proficiency in written, verbal, and reading English and Mandarin.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously across a portfolio of suppliers without close supervision.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the APAC region for on-site supplier visits.
  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred.

How you'll work

  • Remote position based in Asia with significant travel to supplier sites.
  • Reports to the Head of Supplier Quality.
  • Collaborates closely with hardware design and operations teams in Auckland.

What you get

  • $1,000 annual personal growth fund for skill development.
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful problems transforming the agriculture industry.
  • Culture focused on autonomy, mastery, and continuous learning.
