As the first research leader at Mural, you will build the UX research discipline from the ground up. You will conduct deep human collaboration studies and mentor designers to integrate evidence-based decision-making across the organization.
This individual-contributor role partners with product, design, and executive teams to uncover user needs and shape long-term innovation. You will translate ambiguous questions into clear frameworks that drive the next generation of collaborative experiences.
What you'll do
- Lead mixed-methods research exploring user needs and behaviors across products
- Drive foundational studies on barriers in hybrid and distributed work
- Design and execute large-scale studies combining qualitative and quantitative data
- Translate ambiguous questions into learning plans for product strategy
- Create artifacts like journey maps and mental models to share insights
- Mentor designers and product partners in research best practices
- Establish repeatable research standards and methodologies across teams
- Partner with Data Science to integrate behavioral and attitudinal insights
What you'll need
- 10+ years of UX Research experience with qualitative and quantitative expertise
- Proven track record leading foundational research influencing product vision
- Ability to independently design and execute mixed-methods studies
- Experience scaling strategic insights through storytelling and frameworks
- Strong systems thinking connecting human insight to product architecture
- Experience shaping research practices in growing organizations
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and aligning cross-functional teams
- Strong communication skills for executive and hands-on audiences
