As the founding Product Designer, you will build the design language for Sunrise Robotics' autonomous cells. You will work across digital and physical surfaces to make complex robotic systems legible and trustworthy for operators, supervisors, and plant managers.
This role involves defining interaction models and system behaviors that scale across diverse manufacturing environments. You will collaborate directly with robotics, AI, and engineering teams to ensure designs translate faithfully into production-quality behavior.
What you'll do
- Own design across operator software, physical interfaces, and service touchpoints
- Design the full user journey from onboarding to monitoring and handover
- Define interaction models that make autonomous systems feel safe and intuitive
- Develop a coherent design language scaling across diverse manufacturing sites
- Prototype concepts including UI flows, light logic, and feedback mechanisms
- Validate designs with users in live settings and iterate based on feedback
- Set standards for design quality and craft as the function grows
What you'll need
- Experience carrying design across both product and service journeys
- Strong foundation in UX, interaction design, and service design
- Background in high-stakes domains like manufacturing, healthcare, or logistics
- Ability to think in systems across states, flows, and human behaviors
- Proficiency with Figma for rapid concept-to-prototype workflows
- Clear communication skills to drive decisions across engineering and leadership
- Strong ownership and confidence to decide without existing processes
Nice to have
- Experience designing for physical-digital products or environments
- Fluency with multimodal interfaces like visual, auditory, or haptic feedback
- Ability to maintain a coherent design language across a product line over time
- Strong narrative skills to explain complex systems to non-technical users
- Technical curiosity in front-end code, microcontrollers, or hardware tinkering
- Clear point of view on human-machine interaction with supporting examples
