You will design and implement core proxy systems rather than configuring existing tools like Nginx or Squid. The work focuses on low-level networking, protocol optimization, and managing IP reputation across residential, mobile, and datacenter pools.
SearchApi delivers real-time structured search data at scale. As a lean, bootstrapped company, the team prioritizes deep technical challenges and performance over bureaucratic processes. You will define the architecture for handling billions of requests with minimal latency.
What you'll do
- Build custom reverse proxy systems optimized for specific use cases
- Design IP rotation, session management, and intelligent routing logic
- Monitor and optimize IP health, reputation, and quality scoring
- Implement geo-targeting at country, city, and ASN levels
- Handle multiple proxy types including residential, mobile, and ISP
- Develop bandwidth reporting, metering, and usage tracking features
- Manage IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity and implications
- Perform deep debugging using packet captures and protocol analysis
What you'll need
- Deep knowledge of TCP/UDP, sockets, and connection handling
- Expertise in HTTP, HTTPS, and SOCKS5 protocols at byte level
- Experience building proxy or networking infrastructure from scratch
- Proficiency with Linux networking stack and iptables
- Understanding of IP reputation management and blacklisting recovery
- Ability to write clear documentation and architecture decisions
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- BSc or higher in Computer Science or equivalent field
Nice to have
- Experience with residential or ISP proxy networks
- Knowledge of ISP relationships and mobile carrier specifics
- Familiarity with HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 proxy behaviors
- Experience using Terraform for infrastructure provisioning
- Background in high-throughput, low-latency system optimization
