Pluralis Research develops Protocol Learning, enabling large model training on distributed consumer hardware without central control. As the network grows, ensuring workers perform honest computation becomes critical. You will build statistical systems to verify that inference tokens and training updates match claimed models and parameters, protecting against fraud and attacks.
What you'll do
- Define threat models for malicious workers in pre-training, post-training, and inference
- Design statistical verification methods with controlled error rates and benchmarks
- Tune detection systems across heterogeneous hardware like GPUs and Macs
- Build and operate the verification service within the inference path
- Monitor and mitigate attacks such as free-riding, poisoning, and data extraction
What you'll need
- Experience shipping or publishing calibrated statistical decision systems
- Deep expertise in statistics, probability, and experimental design
- Knowledge of untrusted compute verification solutions like cryptographic proofs
- Ability to argue technical fit for permissionless network constraints
- Professional-level written and spoken English proficiency
Nice to have
- Familiarity with large-scale pre-training and RL post-training
- Experience with decentralized ML security and adversarial threat models
- Background in proprietary, open-weight, or open-source AI labs
