Join Cogent, an Applied AI Lab backed by Greylock, to build the next generation of AI agents for cybersecurity. As a Senior Application Security Engineer, you will partner with engineering teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle and protect complex production environments for Fortune 500 clients.
What you'll do
- Embed security into SDLC via threat modeling and design reviews
- Manage application security testing including SAST, DAST, and triage
- Harden software supply chain and secure CI/CD pipelines
- Build automated security tooling and guardrails for engineering teams
- Serve as internal security subject matter expert for product decisions
- Partner with teams on architecture to make security a default practice
What you'll need
- Five or more years of experience in product or application security
- Strong software engineering skills across the stack
- Proficiency in Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar languages
- Deep knowledge of secure SDLC, threat modeling, and code scanning
- Experience with supply chain and dependency security management
- Understanding of the modern AI landscape and its security implications
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, high-ownership startup environments
Nice to have
- Experience securing AI/ML products or agentic systems
- Background in developer-enablement or security-champions programs
- Prior experience building an AppSec function from scratch
