Sardine is an agentic risk platform that unifies data to stop fraud and prevent AI-driven attacks in real time. As a Senior Applied AI Research Scientist, you will combine foundation model expertise with non-text sequential data to create state-of-the-art fraud detection solutions. You will drive the development of next-generation models and ensure their adoption across the industry.
What you'll do
- Scope opportunities and design experiments for foundation model R&D
- Define evaluation metrics including offline benchmarks and drift monitoring
- Manage model lifecycle from tokenization to deployment with low latency
- Collaborate with engineering on GPU efficiency and serving infrastructure
- Translate model capabilities into actionable decisions for risk teams
- Ensure explainability and governance for regulated financial customers
What you'll need
- 4+ years in applied ML, quantitative modeling, or ML engineering
- Experience pre-training or adapting foundation models for production traffic
- Hands-on experience with self-supervised pre-training and fine-tuning
- Production experience with model serving, versioning, and monitoring
- Ability to drive ambiguous research projects with clear communication
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for large dataset preparation
Nice to have
- Background in fraud, AML, payments, or adversarial machine learning
- Experience building LLM-based agents in production environments
- Publications or open source contributions in sequence modeling
- Experience with model risk management in regulated finance
