Join the Intelligence Squad at Belvo, an open finance API platform democratizing access to financial services in Latin America. You will turn aggregated financial data into decision-making models for risk scoring, fraud detection, and transaction categorization.
This position requires deep statistical knowledge and engineering skills to take models from notebook to production. You will define modeling roadmaps, validate hypotheses through experiments, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful AI solutions.
What you'll do
- Lead design of statistical and ML models for risk, fraud, and categorization
- Use agentic coding tools to explore data and scaffold pipelines efficiently
- Translate ambiguous business questions into well-scoped modeling problems
- Build and own production pipelines, APIs, and monitoring for live models
- Design A/B tests and offline evaluations to measure model impact
- Collaborate with Engineering and Product to ship end-to-end solutions
- Stay current with GenAI developments and share insights with the squad
What you'll need
- 5+ years experience in Data Science or Applied Scientist roles
- Proven track record of owning models end-to-end in production
- Strong grounding in statistics and ability to explain model mechanics
- Proficient in Python (pandas, scikit-learn) and SQL for data shaping
- Experience building with LLMs beyond API calls, including evaluation
- Daily use of agentic coding tools to accelerate workflow
- Fluent in written and spoken English
Nice to have
- Background in fintech, financial risk, or regulated data environments
- Business or strategy background such as MBA or consulting experience
- Experience with MLOps tooling for versioning and automated retraining
- Deployment experience on AWS managed services like SageMaker
- Experience writing evals for non-deterministic LLM systems
