Join Boost's platform team to develop technology that powers FMCG manufacturers and last-mile distribution networks. You will craft performant Python code and contribute to features ranging from WhatsApp ordering to digital payment solutions.
Working directly with experienced co-founders, you will help scale the platform across markets through strategic partnerships. This position offers the chance to impact thousands of informal sector retailers while upskilling internal teams.
What you'll do
- Write elegant, performant, and well-tested Python code for new and existing features
- Scope larger features into smaller, actionable work items and execute plans
- Reduce technical debt and communicate necessary refactors to the team
- Support peers through pair programming, code reviews, and mentoring
- Contribute to the Platform roadmap and help prioritize engineering efforts
- Collaborate with in-country product teams to clarify requirements and requests
- Upskill internal country teams on the technical aspects of the product
What you'll need
- At least five years of experience in a relevant backend engineering field
- Deep knowledge of Python with the ability to write clear, Pythonic code
- Strong AI expertise and an AI-first mindset for guiding development
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL, preferably PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS
- Background in engineering, mathematics, or science is preferred
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced startup environments
Nice to have
- Previous experience in a similar role within a fast-growing startup
- Experience with WhatsApp ordering or digital payment solutions
- Familiarity with FMCG sector or last-mile distribution networks
