Join the Product Engineering team at Project Eleven, an applied lab focused on post-quantum migration for the digital-asset ecosystem. You will help future-proof wallets, identity systems, and settlement rails by building canonical tooling that ensures security without compromising user experience.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own security-critical services and collaborate with cryptography researchers to implement novel primitives in production. Your work will directly contribute to preserving self-sovereignty and asset control in a post-quantum world.

What you'll do

  • Own and evolve security-critical backend services for institutional products
  • Design systems with strict correctness, durability, and auditability guarantees
  • Enforce security boundaries around sensitive operations and data
  • Define API stability, versioning, and backward-compatibility policies
  • Contribute to internal security standards and threat modeling practices
  • Partner with cryptography engineers to integrate novel primitives into production

What you'll need

  • Strong proficiency in Rust and TypeScript
  • Experience building performant backend services and APIs at production scale
  • Background in systems with high security or correctness requirements, such as financial infrastructure
  • Solid fundamentals in applied cryptography, including signing and secrets management
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, service deployments, and containerization
  • High competency in automated testing across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels
  • Strong English communication skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with institutional infrastructure like custody platforms or HSM-backed systems
  • Familiarity with threshold signing, MPC, or HSM integration patterns
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
  • Experience with post-quantum cryptography or migrating cryptographic primitives
  • History of developing long-lived libraries with strong backward-compatibility needs
  • Open-source contributions in cryptography or security infrastructure
