Join the Search squad at ClickUp to design and enhance the platform's core search capabilities. You will work on backend services built on Postgres and OpenSearch, ensuring fast, accurate, and real-time results for users. Your work will directly support AI initiatives and improve the overall productivity experience.
What you'll do
- Design and implement scalable search solutions for a growing user base
- Optimize search relevance, accuracy, and speed for instant results
- Improve real-time indexing pipelines to keep data up-to-date
- Build measurement frameworks to evaluate and enhance search quality
- Develop vector search capabilities for next-generation features
- Collaborate with AI, backend, and product teams on integration
- Troubleshoot complex search issues at scale
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of experience as a search engineer or in a related role
- Production experience with OpenSearch or ElasticSearch
- Experience with high-scale, real-time data ingestion and serving
- Proven ability to optimize query parsing and relevance tuning
- Experience measuring and optimizing search quality
Nice to have
- Background in search ranking and information retrieval algorithms
- Hands-on experience with vector embeddings and semantic search
- Experience with TypeScript in backend systems
- Track record of architecting high-performance search solutions
- Experience applying machine learning and NLP to search relevance
