Join Sage AI Labs to engineer the backend systems that allow AI agents to transact on the open web. You will work directly with the CTO to build robust architecture for real-time checkouts, handling payments and retailer integrations at scale.

The team focuses on making failure rare and recovery automatic for systems that operate around the clock. You will design self-validating infrastructure for ingesting products from thousands of sources and implement embedding-based retrieval for dynamic catalogs.

What you'll do

  • Own architecture, code, deploys, monitoring, and on-call for checkout agents
  • Build infrastructure to ingest products from hundreds to thousands of sources
  • Implement embedding-based retrieval, LLM query understanding, and reranking
  • Design systems that generate, validate, and monitor themselves automatically
  • Ensure high reliability for systems spending real customer money

What you'll need

  • 5+ years of experience building backend and infrastructure systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python
  • Proven track record of owning production systems end to end
  • Experience with deploys, databases, observability, and incident response
  • Ability to work effectively without finished specifications
  • Comfort with adversarial problems where external systems change unexpectedly

Nice to have

  • Experience building AI-first products or LLM-based agents in production
  • Working knowledge of classic ML and deep learning for retrieval tasks
  • Background in e-commerce, payments, or fraud and risk infrastructure

Stack

  • Python
  • LLMs
  • Embedding-based retrieval

How you'll work

  • Fully remote position
  • On-call responsibilities for 24/7 systems
  • Direct collaboration with the CTO
