Join Havoc as a Senior Backend Engineer to drive the development of high-performance backend systems powering autonomous hardware across sea, air, and land. You will design and build highly concurrent, distributed services in Go, ensuring reliability in contested environments.
Working closely with frontend, platform, and embedded teams, you will help set technical direction and engineering standards. This role demands strong technical judgment and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced setting.
What you'll do
- Design and build scalable, highly concurrent backend services in Go
- Architect distributed systems for high throughput and real-time operations
- Define service boundaries, APIs, and data models across systems
- Optimize backend performance, scalability, and resilience
- Set engineering standards and conduct code reviews
- Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate services
- Enforce secure development practices and maintain code quality
What you'll need
- 6+ years of experience in backend or distributed systems engineering
- Strong expertise in Go and building highly concurrent systems
- Experience designing fault-tolerant distributed systems at scale
- Knowledge of consensus primitives like etcd, Raft, or leader election
- Strong API design and system architecture skills
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance
Nice to have
- Experience with IoT, robotics, or autonomous systems
- Strong networking fundamentals and debugging skills
- Experience with AWS or cloud-based infrastructure
- Familiarity with embedded systems or hardware integration
- Active or prior security clearance
