Join Xero’s Data & AI Governance team to manage data as a strategic asset and ensure responsible AI adoption. You will partner with Product, Privacy, and Security teams to co-design pragmatic governance approaches that address bias, transparency, and explainability. This position focuses on translating policies into practical guidance and delivering educational resources to uplift organizational capability.
What you'll do
- Evolve privacy, data, and AI governance frameworks for responsible adoption
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate policies into practical guidance
- Deliver literacy programmes and educational resources to uplift data capability
- Collaborate with Regulatory and Risk functions to address evolving legislation
- Advise decision-makers on setting governance guardrails for safe experimentation
What you'll need
- Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks and stewardship models
- Hands-on experience in AI governance and ethical challenges at scale
- Technical depth in data architecture, quality, and lineage
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable guidance
- Familiarity with GDPR, EU AI Act, CCPA, ISO 27001, or SOC2
How you'll work
- Based in Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, or Wellington
- Fully remote available within three hours of AEST
