You will own the design, modeling, and optimization of data infrastructure using Snowflake and dbt. The work involves transforming raw event data from S3 into reliable datasets for analytics and data science teams.
This hands-on architectural role requires solving complex SQL problems and engineering incremental models for billion-row tables. You will partner with software engineers to establish data contracts and ensure performance, security, and cost efficiency at scale.
What you'll do
- Design scalable core tables from raw event data into structured datasets
- Engineer incremental dbt models for billion-row tables using merge strategies
- Implement identity-resolution solutions for merged identities and late data
- Design fact and dimension marts for BI developers and data scientists
- Solve complex SQL challenges involving performance and semi-structured data
- Design reliable ingestion from Amazon S3 into Snowflake using Snowpipe
- Administer Snowflake environments including RBAC and warehouse configuration
- Optimize platform performance and cost through clustering and scheduling
- Establish data-modeling standards and review complex SQL and Python code
What you'll need
- 6+ years in Data Engineering, Architecture, or Analytics Engineering
- 3+ years building production solutions with Snowflake
- Expert-level SQL skills for complex modeling and performance tuning
- Advanced experience with dimensional modeling and slowly changing dimensions
- Advanced dbt experience with incremental strategies and large datasets
- Experience with behavioral data, sessionization, and identity resolution
- Deep Snowflake expertise covering Snowpipe, tasks, streams, and cost management
- Working knowledge of AWS services including S3, IAM, SNS, and SQS
- Ability to read and review Python code
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
