As a foundational greenfield hire, you will design and construct the company's first analytical data platform. This system will serve as the trusted core for agentic AI, supporting both internal reasoning systems and predictive insights for customer dashboards.
You will own the data and retrieval layer, partnering with the Senior Agentic Systems Engineer to ensure reliable data consumption for LLMs. The work involves building ELT pipelines, managing vector storage, and establishing governance for sensitive financial data.
What you'll do
- Design and build the first analytical data platform on cloud infrastructure
- Develop retrieval substrates, embeddings pipelines, and vector storage for RAG
- Construct reliable ELT/CDC pipelines from Postgres using dbt for transformation
- Create dimensional models and a semantic layer for dashboards and AI agents
- Set up orchestration workflows and data CI/CD environments with automated testing
- Implement data validation, lineage, observability, and PII controls for sensitive data
- Partner with AI and backend teams to instrument product events and ship insights
What you'll need
- 6+ years of Data Engineering experience with at least one greenfield platform build
- Proven expertise in building embeddings pipelines and managing vector databases
- Deep understanding of how AI agents consume data and manage context windows
- Expert SQL and PostgreSQL skills alongside experience with major cloud warehouses
- Proficient in Python for building scalable data pipelines and AI tooling
- Strong ELT/ETL design skills using dbt and modern orchestration frameworks
- Hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure data services and event streaming
- Strong grasp of enterprise-grade data quality, lineage, and strict PII controls
Nice to have
- Direct experience building data layers for production LLM agents
- Experience with Streaming or Change Data Capture at scale
- Background in ML feature engineering, MLOps, or cloud AI ecosystems
- Familiarity with ingesting data from .NET, Go, or Python backend APIs
- Experience in Fintech, payments, or charitable-giving domains
