You will define the technical direction for complex transactional systems, balancing infrastructure investments with product delivery. This position requires holistic ownership of roadmaps for billing, financial accounting, and enrollment experiences.
The role focuses on recruiting, mentoring, and scaling engineering talent while collaborating with product, data science, and operations. You will drive cross-functional alignment to ensure the team iterates quickly and delivers measurable impact.
What you'll do
- Set technical direction across backend, frontend, data, and third-party integrations
- Recruit, mentor, and retain engineers while coaching other managers or leads
- Own roadmaps for billing, accounting, membership eligibility, and enrollment systems
- Partner with product and operations to align on programs and measure impact
- Balance sustainable architecture with rapid software shipping for user value
- Drive continuous improvement in codebase, system architecture, and processes
What you'll need
- 5+ years managing engineering teams with experience developing other managers
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, data, and distributed services
- Strong familiarity with building services using Python and/or Go
- Experience owning complex transactional systems like billing or accounting
- Track record of building diverse, inclusive, and high-performing teams
- Ability to thrive in cross-functional environments and drive projects to completion
- Skill in setting product vision for ambiguous projects with partners
Nice to have
- Experience in HIPAA-compliant or similarly regulated environments
- Background in fintech or health tech sectors
