You will lead multiple teams focused on database internals, owning execution and fostering a bottom-up culture. The role requires balancing speed, quality, and maintainability while partnering with Product and Platform Engineering to enhance the customer experience on Tiger Cloud.
What you'll do
- Mentor and manage a globally distributed team of database engineers
- Own hiring, performance management, and career development processes
- Define technical roadmap and prioritize tasks with Product leadership
- Collaborate with Platform Engineering to improve Tiger Cloud experience
- Handle high-value customer escalations and translate needs into priorities
- Make design decisions and support broader engineering organization success
What you'll need
- At least 8 years of engineering experience
- Minimum 4 years managing engineers or engineering teams
- Proven track record leading high-performing systems software teams
- Strong technical depth in distributed systems or databases
- Solid knowledge of SQL, query processing, and concurrency control
- Passion for building reliable system software and developing people
Nice to have
- Hands-on expertise in C and C++ on large code bases
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL internals
- Experience with data replication and distributed systems
