You will manage the backend engineers responsible for the core systems powering Forma's benefits platform. Your team ensures the reliability and performance of services used by all product teams, while establishing standards for AI-assisted code integration.
What you'll do
- Define product strategy and roadmap for backend platform services
- Translate strategy into execution plans with quarterly OKRs
- Drive engineering excellence in system design and code quality
- Establish guardrails for AI-assisted code review and verification
- Manage, hire, and coach a team of backend engineers
- Own operational models for reliability, uptime, and incident response
- Partner with Product and Security to define platform APIs
What you'll need
- 5+ years managing software engineers, specifically platform or backend teams
- 10+ years developing backend applications and distributed systems
- Proven track record scaling complex systems in production
- Experience with SLAs, SLOs, observability, and on-call practices
- Strong background in hiring, coaching, and performance management
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools
- Ability to drive technical strategy in ambiguous environments
