As a hands-on Engineering Manager, you will guide a team responsible for customer-facing products that help school leaders, teachers, and families. You will translate company goals into execution plans, set engineering standards for quality and security, and integrate AI into workflows to automate tasks and improve decision-making.
You will partner closely with Product and Design to define roadmaps and ensure successful production rollouts. The role requires balancing people leadership with technical depth, overseeing web, mobile, and backend systems while using data to drive product improvements.
What you'll do
- Lead a full-stack engineering team from problem definition through production and iteration
- Translate company goals into clear outcomes and credible execution plans
- Set engineering strategy for quality, reliability, security, and operational health
- Ship AI-powered products and integrate AI tools into team workflows
- Hire, develop, and manage performance of strong engineers
- Partner with Product and Design to turn customer problems into shipped features
- Own product health across web, mobile, and backend systems
- Use customer behavior and production data to prioritize work
What you'll need
- Experience leading an engineering team with measurable business results
- Technical depth to challenge architecture and operational decisions
- Proven ability to set engineering strategy and make prioritization choices
- Experience shipping AI-powered products or workflows to production
- Track record of hiring, developing, and managing engineer performance
- Ability to build trusted partnerships across Product and Design teams
Nice to have
- Experience in vertical SaaS, education, fintech, or healthcare
- Led material changes in product direction or operating model
- Built production AI agents, evaluation systems, or automation
- Experience building customer-facing products with measurable adoption
