Render is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a group of product engineers responsible for the core developer experience of its cloud platform. You will blend technical leadership with product thinking, partnering with product managers and designers to translate user needs into scalable systems.
The role involves guiding technical direction, hiring and developing engineers, and ensuring the team ships high-quality improvements quickly. You will help shape the future of intelligent cloud infrastructure while empowering developers to build AI-native and full-stack applications.
What you'll do
- Lead and grow a team of product engineers through mentorship and feedback
- Hire new engineers and expand the group into multiple teams
- Drive execution on product initiatives from ideation to launch
- Partner with Product and Design to translate customer needs into technical solutions
- Guide system design decisions and navigate architectural tradeoffs
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Break down complex problems into incremental milestones for quick value delivery
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align priorities and deliver impactful features
What you'll need
- 8+ years of engineering experience shipping products with business impact
- 4+ years of people management experience including hiring and mentorship
- Strong technical background in system design and architecture
- Product-oriented mindset capable of translating goals into roadmaps
- Track record of collaboration with product, marketing, and support teams
- Ability to balance urgency with thoughtful execution and high quality
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional work
- Experience improving engineering velocity through tooling and processes
Nice to have
- Experience building products for developer platforms or DevTools
- Background in highly scalable distributed systems or infrastructure
- Experience building products used directly by technical users
