Join the team behind HTS Assist, Hopper's agentic AI assistant that handles travel changes and bookings via chat and voice. You will own the realtime and voice layers, working across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure to serve major global travel brands.
What you'll do
- Own the voice channel end-to-end, including telephony integrations and speech pipelines
- Build web chat frontends in React/TypeScript and backend services in Scala/Python
- Design multi-tenant systems where one codebase serves many partners via configuration
- Implement safety guardrails, content filtering, and PII redaction for enterprise compliance
- Maintain system health through observability, alerting, and incident response
- Enable partner telephony integrations and support go-live configurations
- Mentor team members and conduct code and architecture reviews
What you'll need
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with senior-level ownership
- Hands-on experience with realtime systems like WebRTC, SIP, or streaming media
- Strong skills in React/TypeScript and backend development in Scala or Python
- Experience with cloud infrastructure on GCP or AWS
- Track record of building RESTful APIs, microservices, or event-driven systems
- Proficiency with AI coding tools and ability to review generated code
- Operational mindset covering SLAs, on-call rotations, and rollback plans
- Strong communication skills to collaborate across product and operations teams
Nice to have
- Experience with conversational AI, LLM orchestration, or speech technologies
- Knowledge of cloud telephony platforms like Twilio, Amazon Connect, or LiveKit
- Background in building customer service, CRM, or contact center tools
- Familiarity with travel industry technologies such as PSS/GDS or hotel PMS
