Join the team behind HTS Assist, Hopper's agentic AI assistant that handles travel changes and bookings via chat and voice. You will own the realtime and voice layer, building across React front ends, Scala and Python services, and cloud infrastructure to serve major travel brands.
What you'll do
- Own the voice channel end to end, including telephony and CPaaS integrations
- Build streaming speech-to-text and text-to-speech pipelines with low latency
- Develop web chat front ends in React/TypeScript and backend services
- Design multi-tenant systems serving many partners via configuration
- Implement safety guardrails, content filtering, and PII redaction
- Maintain system health through observability, alerting, and incident response
- Mentor team members and conduct code and architecture reviews
What you'll need
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with full-stack range
- Hands-on experience with realtime systems like WebRTC, SIP, or streaming media
- Strong skills in React/TypeScript and backend languages like Scala or Python
- Experience with cloud infrastructure on GCP or AWS
- Track record of building RESTful APIs, microservices, or event-driven systems
- Proficiency with AI coding tools and judgment to review generated code
- Operational mindset covering SLAs, observability, and on-call rotations
Nice to have
- Experience with conversational AI or LLM orchestration
- Familiarity with speech technologies like Deepgram, ElevenLabs, or Whisper
- Knowledge of cloud telephony platforms such as Twilio or Amazon Connect
- Background in building customer service or contact center tools
- Familiarity with travel industry technologies like PSS/GDS
