Join the team behind HTS Assist, Hopper's agentic AI assistant that handles travel changes and bookings via chat and voice. You will own the realtime and voice layers, working across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure to serve major travel brands.
What you'll do
- Own the voice channel end to end, including telephony and CPaaS integrations
- Build streaming speech-to-text and text-to-speech pipelines with low latency
- Develop web chat frontends using React and TypeScript
- Create backend services in Scala and Python on GCP infrastructure
- Design multi-tenant systems serving many partners from one codebase
- Implement safety guardrails, content filtering, and PII redaction
- Maintain system health through observability, alerting, and incident response
- Mentor team members and conduct code and architecture reviews
What you'll need
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with full-stack range
- Senior-level ownership of production systems
- Experience with realtime systems like voice apps, WebRTC, or SIP
- Strong skills in React and TypeScript for frontend development
- Backend depth in Scala, JVM languages, or Python
- Cloud infrastructure experience on GCP or AWS
- Track record of building RESTful APIs and microservices
- Comfort using AI coding tools with judgment for review and ownership
- Operational mindset covering SLAs, on-call rotations, and rollbacks
Nice to have
- Experience with conversational AI or LLM orchestration
- Familiarity with speech technologies like Deepgram or Whisper
- Knowledge of cloud telephony platforms like Twilio or Amazon Connect
- Background in customer service, CRM, or contact center tools
- Familiarity with travel industry technologies like PSS or GDS
