Join Inworld’s research lab to work on real-time AI systems serving hundreds of millions of users. You will tackle ambiguous problems in foundation models, agents, and large-scale inference, focusing on practical impact over pure academic output.
The team values first-principles thinking and full-cycle research ownership. You will frame questions, run experiments, and ship results that power experiences for major tech companies and startups alike.
What you'll do
- Conduct research on foundation models, new architectures, and scaling strategies
- Design and implement evaluation loops, benchmarks, and failure analysis tools
- Explore frontier topics like multimodal models, agents, and world models
- Own the full research cycle from framing questions to shipping results
- Collaborate with US-based leadership and engineering teams daily
What you'll need
- Strong background in ML/NLP with practical experience or PhD
- Experience with training, RL, reward modeling, or scaling models
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and define your own research direction
- Professional fluency in written and spoken English
- Proven track record of building, breaking, and understanding AI systems
Nice to have
- Published research at top conferences like ICML, NeurIPS, or ACL
- Public work such as open-source contributions or AI side projects
- Experience with LLM-as-judge, test-time compute, or tool use
- Interdisciplinary experiments or competition achievements
