Join Quora's distribution team to advance second-phase ranking models that power the main feed and digest emails. You will apply modern machine learning techniques to connect users with relevant content, owning the full lifecycle from data pipelines to production integration.
The team values experimentation and autonomy, allowing engineers to significantly impact the product. You will collaborate with other ML engineers to implement efficient algorithms and develop methodologies used across the organization.
What you'll do
- Improve existing ML ranking models using core coding and ML expertise
- Own end-to-end ML systems including data pipelines and feature engineering
- Manage candidate extraction, model training, and production integration
- Identify new opportunities to apply ML across Quora products
- Collaborate with engineers to implement algorithms efficiently
What you'll need
- 3+ years of professional experience with recommendation or ranking models
- Strong understanding of mathematical foundations of ML algorithms
- Experience building end-to-end machine learning systems
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Available for coordination hours Mon-Fri 9am-3pm Pacific Time
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to have
- 5+ years of experience writing Python or C++ code
- Experience with generative recommendation systems
- Knowledge of transformers or long sequence modeling for ranking
- Experience leading large-scale multi-engineer projects
- Passion for Quora’s mission of growing collective intelligence
