Lead the Experiences team responsible for member happiness and retention through incremental improvements and new features. You will manage six engineers directly while collaborating with Product, Design, Data Science, and Content teams to deliver high-quality consumer-facing experiences.
What you'll do
- Directly manage six engineers including performance reviews and coaching
- Own delivery of the member experience roadmap with cross-functional partners
- Drive technical quality regarding reliability, performance, and test coverage
- Balance paying down technical debt against shipping new features
- Hire and grow the team by defining standards and building leadership bench
- Stay technically involved by reviewing design docs and risky changes
What you'll need
- Several years of direct software engineering management experience
- Experience shipping consumer-facing products on mobile, web, or embedded
- Strong engineering background with ability to read and reason about code
- Clear communication skills with Product, Design, and executives
- Ability to handle difficult performance conversations respectfully
- Personal experience using AI-assisted engineering tools
Nice to have
- Experience with Android, Kotlin, Flutter, or Swift
- Background in software shipping alongside physical products
- Experience leading platform or release-process modernization
- Background in connected fitness, consumer hardware, or digital health
- Experience managing distributed or contract engineers
