Lead the technical arm of Skydio's state and local go-to-market strategy, focusing on Drone as First Responder initiatives and statewide transit programs. You will manage a team of Solutions Engineers who bridge the gap between agency needs and product capabilities, ensuring successful large-scale deployments.
The position requires balancing technical excellence with strategic sales support, overseeing site assessments, proofs of concept, and customer integrations. You will serve as the primary voice for customer requirements within the product organization while driving technical wins across major public sector accounts.
What you'll do
- Hire, onboard, and coach Solutions Engineers to ensure territory coverage and professional growth
- Set technical standards for demos, trial plans, and customer-facing documentation
- Manage team capacity and prioritize resource allocation across the segment
- Own technical wins for citywide programs spanning multiple agencies and docks
- Serve as senior escalation point for critical deployments and customer issues
- Partner with Sales leadership on pipeline forecasting and account planning strategies
- Ensure high-quality site assessments and structured proofs of concept with measurable value
- Guide integration strategies for CAD, dispatch, video management, and airspace approvals
- Translate field observations into prioritized product requirements for Engineering teams
What you'll need
- At least five years of relevant technical experience in customer-facing roles
- One or more years of experience leading technical teams or mentoring staff
- Strong understanding of drone technology and Public Safety sUAS operations
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance including BVLOS approvals and waivers
- Familiarity with Public Safety technologies like CAD and VMS platforms
- Proven track record in hiring, developing, and retaining technical talent
- Comfort operating within Sales organizations and managing quota responsibilities
- Excellent communication skills for briefing operators and senior executives
- Ability to travel approximately thirty percent of the time
- Ability to lift up to sixty pounds unaided
- FAA Part 107 certification required within first sixty days for certain positions
Nice to have
- Prior service as sworn officer, firefighter, or agency UAS program lead
- Experience launching Drone as First Responder programs from waiver to go-live
- Familiarity with grant funding pathways and cooperative purchasing vehicles
- Working knowledge of Salesforce, Palantir, Databricks, or equivalent tools
- Track record of scaling technical teams during periods of rapid growth

How you'll work
- Fully remote position based in the US
- Approximately thirty percent travel required for customer engagements
- Reports to Director of Solutions Engineering – SLED
- Supports SLED Majors West and Canadian public safety business

- Annual base salary range of $172,000 to $215,000 plus commission
