You will establish the Solutions Engineering function for Skydio's Corrections and Campus Security segments from the ground up. This leadership role focuses on turning operational challenges into program designs, ensuring successful product integration, and driving technical wins across state and local agencies.
Reporting to the Director of Solutions Engineering for SLED, you will hire and coach a team while serving as the senior technical escalation point. The work involves creating reference architectures, managing site assessments, and aligning product requirements with customer needs in the public safety sector.
What you'll do
- Hire, onboard, and coach Solutions Engineers across designated territories
- Define technical quality standards for demos, trials, and documentation
- Manage team capacity and prioritize resource allocation for critical pursuits
- Serve as senior technical escalation point for deployments and customer issues
- Create discovery motions and reference architectures for new market segments
- Oversee site assessment quality and proof of concept outcomes
- Guide integration strategies for CAD, video management, and airspace approvals
- Translate field observations into prioritized product requirements
What you'll need
- At least five years of customer-facing technical experience
- One or more years leading a technical team or mentoring engineers
- Strong knowledge of drone technology and Public Safety sUAS operations
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and Drone as First Responder concepts
- Working knowledge of Public Safety technologies like CAD and VMS
- Proven track record in hiring, developing, and retaining technical talent
- Comfort operating within a Sales organization and managing deal strategy
- Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs unaided
- Willingness to obtain FAA Part 107 certification within 60 days
Nice to have
- Prior service as a sworn officer, firefighter, or agency UAS lead
- Experience launching Drone as First Responder programs from waiver to go-live
- Familiarity with grant funding pathways and cooperative purchasing vehicles
- Working knowledge of Salesforce, Palantir, Databricks, or similar platforms
- Track record of scaling technical teams during periods of rapid growth
