Candid builds an AI layer for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms to automate document understanding and consistency checks. We are looking for a senior mechanical engineer with deep experience in power generation and gas-to-power projects to bridge the gap between traditional engineering and software automation.

In this hybrid role, you will handle complex mechanical engineering tasks that software cannot yet manage, validate automated outputs, and help define product requirements. You will work directly with founders to shape how the platform handles equipment scope, vendor packages, and cross-discipline handoffs.

What you'll do

  • Perform hands-on mechanical engineering for FEL-2 and early-phase delivery work
  • Validate automated mechanical outputs to ensure quality before client delivery
  • Define equipment scope development and validation standards for FEED phases
  • Review mechanical content across datasheets, vendor packages, and discipline handoffs
  • Build repeatable checks to identify scope gaps and inconsistencies early
  • Map mechanical rework causes and distinguish repetitive steps from judgment calls
  • Clarify interface points with Process, Piping, I&C, and Electrical disciplines

What you'll need

  • 7+ years at a large-scale EPC, PMC, owner-operator, or OEM
  • Direct experience in combined cycle, simple cycle, LNG, or cogeneration projects
  • Proven ownership of mechanical equipment datasheet development through FEED
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment like gas turbines, HRSGs, and pumps
  • Hands-on experience with API and ASME specifications including B31.1
  • Experience coordinating OEM turbine packages from major vendors
  • Ability to spot inconsistencies across datasheets, P&IDs, and vendor packages
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and wearing multiple hats

Nice to have

  • Experience as a discipline lead or technical authority
  • Work on data center or behind-the-meter power campuses
  • Experience taking equipment from FEED into procurement and detailed engineering
  • Knowledge of packaged systems, modular systems, and skid integration
  • Genuine interest in AI and automation technologies

Stack

  • API 610
  • API 611
  • API 612
  • API 617
  • ASME VIII
  • B31.1

How you'll work

  • Fully remote position
  • Direct line to founders and product team
  • No rigid approval chains or stage gates

What you get

  • Competitive base salary plus equity
  • Unlimited paid time off
  • Health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision
  • Up to $150 monthly health and wellness reimbursement
