Mattermost seeks a Senior Mobile Engineer to own the mobile experience for users in high-stakes, security-sensitive environments. You will enhance app reliability and performance in DDIL (disconnected, denied, intermittent, limited) conditions, working across React Native and native layers.
The role requires deep expertise in mobile architecture, synchronization, and offline capabilities. You will partner with platform teams and use telemetry to drive improvements, ensuring the software remains robust for mission-critical operations.
What you'll do
- Architect apps for constrained network environments and offline reliability
- Improve data synchronization, recovery, and connection lifecycle handling
- Own crash-free rates and release health using telemetry and diagnostics
- Profile and optimize startup, networking, storage, and battery usage
- Manage native iOS/Android integrations and cross-platform boundaries
- Mentor engineers on mobile architecture and performance best practices
- Contribute to the open-source codebase and uphold security standards
What you'll need
- Deep expertise in iOS or Android with strong knowledge of the other
- Strong understanding of mobile SDKs, lifecycle, and networking
- Experience building reliable systems for unreliable connectivity
- Proficiency in mobile performance profiling and production debugging
- Ability to use production data and crash metrics to drive improvements
- Experience making architecture recommendations and owning outcomes
- Fluency with AI coding tools to enhance engineering output
Nice to have
- Experience with React Native and TypeScript
- Background in mobile persistence and offline-capable systems
- Knowledge of WebRTC, CallKit, or Android audio APIs
- Experience with MDM, AppConfig, or Intune MAM deployment
- History of building software for regulated or sensitive environments
- Contributions to open-source projects
