You will manage the platform supporting Scalar’s Docs, SDKs, and AI features, treating infrastructure as engineering rather than configuration. The team values autonomy and high agency, expecting you to solve problems end-to-end in a lean, open-source-focused environment.
What you'll do
- Own the platform infrastructure for Docs, SDKs, API Client, and Agent Scalar
- Manage hybrid compute using Cloud Run and multi-region Compute Engine groups
- Write infrastructure-as-code using Pulumi in TypeScript
- Maintain eventing systems via Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks, and Cloud Scheduler
- Handle object storage pipelines on GCS for artifacts and CDN delivery
- Ensure reliability, performance, and autoscaling across services
- Develop internal tooling including CLI toolkit and feature-flag systems
- Monitor operational health using Sentry, structured logging, and BigQuery
What you'll need
- Experience owning production infrastructure in a startup or small team
- Deep comfort with TypeScript-heavy stacks and infrastructure code
- Proven ability to run services on cloud providers like GCP
- Understanding of trade-offs between serverless and long-lived VMs
- Strong decision-making skills and clear communication without supervision
- Collaborative mindset focused on finding the right answer kindly
Nice to have
- Depth in GCP services like Cloud Run, Compute Engine, and Pub/Sub
- Experience with Pulumi or infrastructure-as-code in programming languages
- Background in multi-region deployment and autoscaling strategies
- Track record of building internal developer tooling to improve speed
- Familiarity with polyglot persistence using MongoDB and PostgreSQL
- Experience in developer tools, APIs, or OpenAPI standards
