  • Support system operations and participate in on-call rotations
  • Define specifications for storage server hardware
  • Build tools to support capacity planning efforts
  • Design interfaces for orchestration services and live migrations
  • Write engineering requirement documents from idea to implementation
  • Set long-term architectural direction for platform scaling

What you'll need

  • Experience building and operating distributed storage systems
  • Strong systems engineering background in filesystems or kernel I/O
  • Deep understanding of algorithms for reliable storage performance
  • Experience with large distributed systems requiring consistency
  • Strong background in Linux I/O layer performance engineering
  • Solid foundation in systems programming with Rust
  • Ability to own problems independently in a small team setting
  • Strong communication skills for documentation and collaboration

Nice to have

  • Background in hypervisor I/O or kernel development

  • Equipment stipend for home office setup
  • High autonomy with very few internal meetings
  • Support for professional growth and career transitions

Hiring process

  • Initial open-ended conversation about role and goals
  • Asynchronous design project for a storage engine
  • Technical review of solution with team members
  • Team fit interview with four cross-functional colleagues
  • Final offer details and onboarding discussion with CEO
