Join the Core and Investments team at Kota to build the foundation of their integrated benefits platform. You will design systems for pensions, retirement savings, and spend management, working across the stack to solve complex financial problems.
The role requires strong product judgment and autonomy, allowing you to shape the roadmap rather than just execute tickets. You will collaborate directly with clients and use AI tools extensively to plan, build, and ship reliable software.
What you'll do
- Design and build systems for pensions, contributions, and provider integrations
- Identify user pain points and translate them into clear product decisions
- Own features end-to-end from scoping and architecture to post-launch support
- Work across backend and frontend wherever the problem requires attention
- Challenge requests that do not align with user needs and propose roadmap ideas
- Integrate AI tools into planning, coding, reviewing, and shipping processes
- Ensure systems remain reliable, secure, and observable for critical benefits
What you'll need
- 6+ years of experience building and owning production software products
- Strong product judgment with ability to explain user problems and choices
- Full stack capability with comfort diving deep into backend or frontend
- Track record of taking vague briefs to production and pushing back when needed
- Experience building dependable APIs or integrations with third-party systems
- Proficient in using AI for planning and review, not just code completion
- Clear communication skills for both engineering and customer audiences
- Commitment to reliability, security, and compliance in financial software
- Comfortable with ambiguity and ownership in a fast-paced startup
- Ability to work within GMT hours with an 08:00 - 10:00 start time
