Join Focus, a digital services firm modernizing systems for federal agencies like the IRS and Department of State. As a Senior SRE, you will own the deployability and health of complex multi-vendor platforms, applying modern DevOps practices to civic tech projects.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform modules
- Build CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and security scanning
- Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to guide reliability priorities
- Implement observability via metrics, logging, tracing, and alerts
- Lead incident response, postmortems, and on-call rotations
- Automate operational tasks using Python, Go, or TypeScript
- Mentor teammates through code reviews and documentation
What you'll need
- 5+ years in SRE, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure engineering
- Production experience with Terraform module design and state management
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or TypeScript for scripting and automation
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitHub Actions or Jenkins
- Knowledge of observability tools such as DataDog, Prometheus, or Grafana
- Experience with containers and orchestration like Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes
- Legal authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship
- Ability to pass government background checks if required by contract
Nice to have
- Familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or ATO processes
- Experience supporting legacy modernization or cloud migration
- Knowledge of AWS GovCloud environments and compliance standards
