Join Posit as a Senior Software Engineer to help reinvent how data science work reaches production. You will build new capabilities for the Posit Team platform, enabling organizations to explore data, deploy applications, and manage AI agents with accountability.
This role suits a generalist who thrives in ambiguous environments and values user empathy over technical purity. You will prototype solutions, ship code quickly, and share knowledge across a distributed engineering team focused on open source and sustainable business practices.
What you'll do
- Ship code changes that improve customer experience within the first week
- Participate in feature planning and provide feedback on product direction
- Plan features and drive their development from concept to release
- Teach team members by sharing expertise and newly learned techniques
- Build new capabilities for data science infrastructure and AI workflows
What you'll need
- Proficiency in either Go or TypeScript
- Proficiency in either Python or R
- Experience with backend systems and data tooling
- Ability to prototype when requirements are ambiguous or underspecified
- Willingness to tackle unfamiliar subjects and learn new techniques
- Strong focus on solving real customer problems rather than technical purity
Nice to have
- Prior domain expertise in data science practices
- Experience with data science frameworks
