Join the BASE team to own the JVM platform that enables internal teams to ship LLM-powered agents. You will implement reusable libraries, Spring Boot starters, and shared building blocks within the Kotlin ecosystem. This role focuses on creating foundational design decisions and patterns that other engineers follow.
What you'll do
- Design shared libraries, Spring Boot starters, and templates for internal use
- Build JVM foundations for agents including message routing and state handling
- Drive technical work across Kotlin/Spring Boot services and client libraries
- Define evaluation and guardrail strategies to measure agent quality
- Set patterns and standards for building agentic systems across teams
- Mentor teams and maintain documentation to drive platform adoption
- Map the wider ecosystem to make foundational decisions fitting real needs
What you'll need
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Track record of building libraries or frameworks for other engineers
- Deep experience with Kotlin and/or Java on the JVM
- Strong expertise in Spring Boot and API design
- Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to set direction
- Ability to turn ambiguous problems into well-scoped designs
- Familiarity with AWS or any Cloud provider and Kubernetes
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience building agents and agent graphs
- Practical Python skills for prototyping and reading code
- Experience with evaluation or observability strategy for ML systems
- Background in distributed systems like SQS, Redis, or gRPC
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and deeper AWS knowledge
- Contributions to or maintenance of open-source libraries
